Don't be fooled by how innocent the objects around you look when you enter a room. Hidden cameras are usually concealed inside everyday objects we see every day. Here are the most commonly used methods:
1. Electrical Outlets
The most used location in hotel rooms and rental properties. Cameras placed inside outlet covers are almost impossible to notice.
2. Smoke Detectors
Detectors mounted on ceilings are ideal for hiding cameras because they provide wide angles. Most people never think to look at the ceiling anyway.
3. Desk Lamps
A simple lamp placed on a table might actually be positioned to view the entire room.
4. Alarm Clocks
Classic trick: putting a camera inside an alarm clock. It's at eye level and no one suspects it.
5. Pens
Pen shaped cameras used in meeting rooms or offices are easily hidden due to their small size.
6. Charging Adapters
That adapter you use to charge your phone might actually be recording. Especially common in USB output adapters.
7. Bookshelves and Decorative Objects
Small sculptures, between books, or figurine shaped devices are suitable hiding areas for cameras.
8. Air Vents
Cameras hidden inside ceiling or wall vents can capture wide angle footage.
9. TVs and Speakers
Cameras hidden in TV units or Bluetooth speakers appear "naturally" placed in the room.
10. Clothing Hooks
Even a small hole in wall mounted hooks can be enough for a camera. Especially common in changing rooms.
11. Glasses
Another type of portable camera. A camera hidden on the edge of normal glasses records according to your line of sight.
12. Toys
An innocent looking toy left in children's rooms or living rooms might actually be carrying a hidden camera.
How can you notice them?
- Check if there are LED lights or extra holes in outlets and adapters.
- Pay attention to whether there are unusual lens reflections in smoke detectors.
- Observe whether objects are placed in "overly strategic" locations in the room.
- And of course, the safest method: do a quick scan with HiddenEye.
